The Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science is an organizational unit of the Faculty of Production Engineering at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin.
The Department of Computer Science, Department of Mathematical Statistics, Laboratory of Experimental Theory and Biometrics and Department of Mathematics. The Department employs twenty-two employees, including: one full professor, six associate professors, twelve doctors, one assistant and two technicians.
The employees of the Department carry out the didactic process at all faculties of the university by conducting lectures and exercises during full-time and part-time studies as well as doctoral studies. The didactic classes include, among others, the following subjects: computer science (various levels), mathematics, mathematical statistics, experimentation, econometrics, statistical process control, instruments of spatial analysis, probability, mathematical decision support, biostatistics.
For our students, we run a Virtual Education Center, which offers on-line courses for the subjects they carry out. Teaching materials in the form of lectures, examples and exercises are posted on the website of these courses to help students prepare for the laboratory classes.
Department staff also provide numerous consultations not only to students, but also to employees of other units, especially those who carry out doctoral and postdoctoral theses.
The main research profile of the Department includes: mathematical and statistical methods and their application in natural and technical sciences, biometrics and the theory of experiments. Over time, the scope of research problems was extended to include IT issues, which was reflected in the name of the Department. The research conducted at the Department results in numerous publications and papers presented at foreign and national conferences.
